PROJECT GALLERY

Have a look through my projects over the last two years at Bangor University, these projects are a combination of personal, work placement and some are live briefs from the module. In total, I have been fortunate enough to work with 7 amazing companies on live projects gaining knowledge in different industries and gaining professional constructive criticism that has helped me to be a better designer.

The Tinsmiths - 2020

The Tinsmiths - 2020

This was my 2nd year Work Placement. After learning the whole process of jewellery making at The Tinsmiths, I was able to make these drop earring (with some assistance). Learning a new highly skilled process took some time and I had a lot more to learn while on the placement. Due to COVID-19, I was not able to create one of my designs for the company but would love going back to work with the team and create a new collection.

Unfinished Project - Moon shaped earrings

Unfinished Project - Moon shaped earrings

In the jewellery sessions at the start of 2020, I also started these pair of moon shaped earrings but unfortunately haven't had time to finish due to sadly not having my own workshop at home. Made from copper, hand cut and soldered a jump ring, to finish I would need to sand and polish the pair then attach a drop earring chain and stud.

Jewellery Making - Copper Ring

Jewellery Making - Copper Ring

Before leaving for our 2nd year Work Placement, our lecturer Katie Roberts (also a jewellery maker) provided us with jewellery making sessions to gain confidence and to learn more about jewellery making. Over the sessions I made the copper ring with a plain finish, perfect for stacking with other rings. (More pictures in the gallery).

Eco To Go - New packaging

Eco To Go - New packaging

The brief - "Improve the consumer experience of shopping for loose/packaging-free products from local shops and supermarkets using circular economy design approaches, in order to help make Bangor a city free from single use plastic." Following the brief, I designed a new carrier for all shopping therefore trolleys and plastic packaging could be eliminated. This bag could also be used as a backpack , it also has a tray that slots in by opening the front zipper.

To add to the bag, I created a tray that could hold fruits and vegetables safely in the bag. Using sustainable Veg Top material, the tray is reusable, washable and lightweight.

Robertson Geo - Cable Head

Robertson Geo - Cable Head

The first project as a 2nd Year student was to create a new clamping and cable head for Robertson Geo logging. As I had no knowledge on engineering, the project was totally a new experience for me. The purpose was far more important than how it looked and this did test and pushed me to be a better designer. There were many testing, re thinking and designing and this was my end product.

Robertson Geo - Clamping

Robertson Geo - Clamping

To develop the Cable Head, we were asked to focus on the clamping as this was the weakest point of the cable head and took hours to assemble. I created a new concept to hold the wire instead of peeling the wires back and weakening the cable.

Home Project - Framed Print

Home Project - Framed Print

When I have spare time, I do like to play around with prints made by hand or on Illustrator. Therefore I created this framed print for my Grandmother's 80th Birthday. Using my Grandmother's favorite verse about Bluebells (Blodau'r Gog) and adding my own flower print by hand made it a unique gift that she will treasure forever.

Home Project - Framed 'Home' Print

Home Project - Framed 'Home' Print

As I have Adobe on my laptop, I decided to create my own print to put up in the house as none on the market suited what I wanted. I created the print on Illustrator using my handwriting and my personal touches. It is the perfect addition to our wall.

Plastecowood - 2019

Plastecowood - 2019

This was my 1st year Work Placement. Working closely with the Design and Fabrication Manager, I was able to design two new pallets for a specific company that needed them in the exact size. I learned about re purposing and the endless products the plastic lumber could be made into. As this was an industrial placement, I had no knowledge going into the work placement but by the end I understood their mission and a lot about circular design.

Branded Product - Game Controller

Branded Product - Game Controller

This was a challenging but very fun project as we had to pick out a random company and product from a box! I had the company Lamy and the product Game Controller. I combined the Purple Safari Lamy Pen with it's smooth curves and feminine touch to create the portable game controller that can be carried anywhere you go. I created the Game Controller with hard foam and plastic controllers.

Arduino - Science Project

Arduino - Science Project

In the 1st Year we had the opportunity to take part in Arduino sessions in the Computer Science department. We learned the basic coding and how to form kits to create different outputs e.g flashing/solid light, buttons and sound.

Bangor Street Furniture - Seating Area

Bangor Street Furniture - Seating Area

Working in a team of three, we created this Seating Area Prototype using balsa. The Seating Area would bring people together to talk as a community and suits the overall landscape around Bangor. The Mayor of Bangor visited us to talk about the problems within the high street and the divide between the locals and student. Therefore we created this Seating Area to bring people together and talk.

MijMoj - Jewellery Holder / Display

MijMoj - Jewellery Holder / Display

This was my first ever project at University and I will always remember this project as everything was new and exciting! I designed a floating shelve style necklace display for a bedroom or closet. This necklace display could be personalised on the front to suit the company's style. I found this project enjoyable and comfortable as I had many experiences working with wood and it did suit the company's look.

Re purposing project - Goat Hut

Re purposing project - Goat Hut

As a summer project in 2018 I created a Goat Hut using used pallets from an agricultural feed store and a sheet roof. I wanted to make a Hut for my Pygmys but was unsure what could make a well ventilated and strong stucture. With the help of my partner, we made the hut that is still standing without any repairs 2 years on. I feel very strongly about re using materials and this was the perfect blend of used and new. Goat approved!
